GVI Engineer recognized by NAVSEA with a Most Innovative Award.

As a follow up to a news article last year, we are pleased to note that GVI’s Mike Vartanian has recently been recognized by the Navy as an integral member in the development of the NATSC patent for the Hose De-Kinking process.  NATSC won a Most Innovative Award for this cutting edge technology / patent.  As part of the process leading up to this prestigious award, NATSC engineers, including Mike, successfully applied for and defended a patent that allows Acoustic Module Hoses that have been damaged by kinking to be salvaged.  During the BRAC transition, and due to facility limitations, almost 200 module hoses had to be stored on reels for more than the maximum 30 days and as a result had developed kinks in them that rendered them unusable.  The patent invention has been used to fully restore all of the damaged hoses with a savings to the Government on the order of $850,000.00.   Well done to all of those involved.
